NaPoWriMo day twenty seven. For poem number twenty seven I have gone with today’s NaPoWriMo suggested prompt to write a hay(na)ku. The hay(na)ku is, apparently, a variant on the haiku. To quote NaPoWriMo “A hay(na)ku consists of a three-line stanza, where the first line has one word, the second line has two words, and the third line has three words. You can write just one, or chain several together into a longer poem” so here’s my take on it. This poem’s called Going Out.

NaPoWriMo day thirteen and here’s poem number thirteen inspired by the plentiful red tulips my garden waiting for their petals to open to the sun. It’s called Red Tulip…

Red tulip.

A floral film star

striking an ingénue pose

in the heady world of the spring garden.

At the start of a burgeoning career

petals are pulled in tight and demure.

The next day a pout appears

and the next a big, blousy smile

ruby lips flashed wide in the spotlight.

But as with every ageing beauty

stardom fades and character parts

become du jour,

a backdrop for the bluebells,

until tired and yellowing

it’s put out of its misery and replaced.

Day Seven and here’s poem number three. It’s called Red Shoes…

Red shoes calling to me

through the window

glossy and sleek

pretty black bows.

Kitten heels purring sweetly

on the display

try me buy me

take me with you. (more…)
